EEAE is the national competent regulatory authority in the fields of radiation protection, radiological and nuclear safety. The organisation holds a key role in ensuring the implementation of an integrated radiation protection strategy at national level, which includes, alongside to its regulatory part, aspects, such as the provision of education and training, information dissemination and outreach activities, fostering of safety culture among stakeholders and support of research. EEAE has participated in a number of projects though FP5, FP6 and FP7 (ORAMED, COCAE, PREPARE) as well as in projects funded by DG Energy (Eu-Trimer, DoseDataMed, Images). EEAE is member of various networks; close links to numerous stakeholders in radiation protection in Greece are established.

Role in the project

EEAE will participate in the EJP CONCERT in its capacity as regulatory authority having research activities in the field of radiation protection. EEAE will provide to the EJR CONCERT the necessary information regarding the national needs and, vice versa, will address the outcome of the EJP CONCERT to the stakeholders in the country. EEAE contributes to WP2, WP6 and WP7. EEAE is recognized for the high level of education and training activities developed at national, regional and international level. Thus, it holds an active role in decision-making groups of the IAEA and the EC. EEAE has established a national Programme on E&T and has actively participated in the development of the IAEA’s methodology for the establishment of a national strategy on E&T. EEAE has accredited laboratories, unique in the country, for performing measurements and calibrations.
